
Catherine Jane Ford (born 5 December 1969), known professionally as Catherine Tate, is an English comedian, actress and writer. Tate has been nominated seven times for the BAFTAs, an International Emmy Award, and numerous other awards for her work in the BBC sketch comedy series The Catherine Tate Show (2004)-2007. Tate was Donna Noble's co-star in Doctor Who's Christmas special from 2006. The actress later reprised her role and was later the Tenth Doctor's regular companion in the fourth series of Doctor Who in 2008. [2] Tate was the lead in Joanie Taylor ("Nan"), a comedy character that she played on The Catherine Tate Show (2009-2015). She also appeared in The Nan Movie (2022). In 2011, she was introduced to an ongoing role as Nellie Bertram on the U.S. version of The Office and became a regular until the series was cancelled. The character she played was the role of Miss Sarah Postern (2013-2014), and Magica de Spell (2017-2021) in the BBC One sitcom Big School. In 2022, Tate starred as six characters in the Netflix comedy series, Hard Cell, which she also co-wrote and co-directed.
